Electronics & Hardware Engineer – Lighting

Position summary:

All aspects of electronics related product design and development related to exterior lighting, from concept thru final requirements, reviews and communication/coordination

Responsibilities:

• Design and conceptualize ECUs for lighting products and manage production and testing with Supplier
• Provides design, development, and production support regarding the electrical requirements for new lighting products
• Perform benchmarking and technology trend survey on automotive lighting
• Conducts and oversees design validation tests for prototype and production hardware
• Design and prototype of lighting ECUs
• Coordinate the integration of lighting products into the electrical architecture with the Suppliers

Required experience and skills:

• Applicant must be able to layout, and prototype an automotive (lighting) ECU independently
• Applicant must be able to coordinate the integration of a lighting ECU and into the vehicle architecture and to draft specifications and interfaces for that
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 5+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering
• Experience in Lighting Electrical Engineering within automotive industry preferred
• Heavy knowledge of electrical hardware design, materials, system architecture, embedded systems and PCB design for high power LED products
• Knowledge of lighting technology, source types, LEDs and electrical components
• Knowledge of testing methods and government requirements for automotive designs is a plus
• Knowledge in aspects of functional safety (ISO-26262)
• Knowledge of manufacturing capabilities for automotive lighting and electronics preferred
• Good understanding for software and hardware system design with microcontrollers and analog and digital circuits
• Knowledge of automotive communication interfaces (e.g. CAN, LIN, Ethernet)

Advantageous experience and skills:

• Experience in layout of automotive wire harnesses and connectors
• Experience in parametric 3d CAD is a plus
• Experience configuring ASIC and FPGA is a plus
